Supercritical Fluids

Projects on stand-by at the moment...

The overall objective of our previous work was to provide crucial insights into knowledgeably designing environmentally friendly CO2 -philic polymers and surfactants relevant to applications, ranging from polymerization to microlithography.

A new light scattering cell adapted to compressible fluids was designed and fabricated. By measuring the variation of the CO2 solvent quality (second virial coefficient, A2 ) for various homopolymers and comparing it with the available theoretical models, we demonstrated that polymer-solvent universal behaviour remained valid in liquid CO2 .

Through several collaboration and to expand the utility of the CO2 platform, amphiphilic molecules (diblock-copolymers and dendritic molecules) were synthesised and solubility as well as micellization process in compressed CO2 were investigated demonstrating promising potential not only for CO2 technology but also for phase transfer and purification.
